The Man in the High Castle

Tease and Social Package

For the very first tease announcing the return of The Man in the High Castle, we partnered up with Amazon Studios to create an original flag concept that would set the tone for the highly anticipated new season. With no show footage to work with at the time, we were able to use Amazon’s green-screen footage of a tattered nazi flag, and recreate it in CG to ultimately achieve the visual effects we were looking for.

Once we locked design frames early on, our artists began research on the flying patterns of doves, using their findings to start the meticulous work of shading feathers and simulating the light that would play off of birds in flight.

With a solid 3D team, we jumped into production and began animating flag simulations. By working in Houdini, we were able to create a fluid, realistic movement in the waving and tearing of the flag, pairing this with the development of the doves as well.

After finalizing the spot, we worked to design a social package consistent with the tease, that could be used across digital platforms via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. A huge thanks to our partners at Amazon for the collaborative effort throughout. We can’t wait to see the new season!
