From the big screen to real life, Universal Theme Parks are known for taking an on-screen fantasy and transforming it into a fantastical physical manifestation for their audience. Now, the minds behind these experiences are taking viewers on a behind-the-scenes journey exploring the history and legacy of Universal Destinations and Experiences in 'Epic Ride: The Story of Universal Theme Parks', a 3-part docuseries from Peacock.

The BGSTR-designed series shares unprecedented access, rare archival, and intimate interviews as it explores Universal's iconic film and theme park history. The three episodes tell the somewhat parallel stories of the making of Epic Universe, which debuted in Orlando in late May, along with the overall history of Universal parks, meaning our design needed to encompass both ends of the spectrum.
To initiate our design process, we dug deep into the archival materials from the world of Universal whose properties range from blockbuster films to documents featuring the history of the park itself.

We tested a variety of techniques to hone down the style of the series’ look and feel for all the elements we needed to support including archival headlines, 3D maps of the parks, and a main title and logo.

'Epic Ride: The Story of Universal Theme Parks' is now streaming on Peacock! Thank you to our partners for bringing us on—it was really special to see all of the archives up close and design the series to reflect the Parks’ legacy.
