The newest original documentary from National Geographic anLittle Monster Films chronicles Addario's ascent in the male-dominated world of conflict photography. BGSTR designed the film, choosing a stylistic direction to complement Addario's work and legacy.
Addario has photographed nearly every major conflict and humanitarian crisis of the last 20 years. Our design approach was focused on juxtaposing the powerful images Addario had captured from war zones and areas of unrest with the domestic scenes the film shares with her family.
The color palette and bold typography lend themselves to Addario’s career and the subtext of the film, presenting an awareness of gender stereotypes and the intensity of confict—reinforcing the strength that Addario and her fellow female conflict photographers represent amidst in their chosen profession.
'Love+War' airs on National Geographic on November 6 at 9/8c. It will be available on Disney+ starting November 7.
