BGSTR designed a multidimensional graphics package to promote The History Channel’s ‘Strange and Unusual’ slate of spring programming. The package incorporates 3D visuals designed to set the tone for the upcoming seasons of several of the channel’s most popular shows.
The project kicked off with BGSTR developing concepts to reference the upcoming premieres of certain shows including History's Greatest Mysteries, The UnXplained, and The Secrets of Skinwalker Ranch. Our clients had developed the concept ‘Strange and Unusual” to capture all three series, so we wanted a design look that would match that otherworldly throughline.
Our design exploration included a variety of directions—a colorful introspective version and a barrage of cyclones were both concepts that we considered. Ultimately, our clients clicked with a style that had a vintage extraterrestrial feel as the one that embodied strange and unusual best.
Once we were set on a design direction, we swiftly set about turning around a package that could transition into the logos of each of the premiering shows in a seamless and engaging way. Orbiting bits of extraterrestrial debris and beaming lights perfectly lead into the otherworldly themes of the shows.
The final delivery included a variety of title cards to be used at our client’s discretion and all uniquely fit into the overall promotional package. Working with The History Channel always sets us up for a smooth process and this experience was no exception. Check out the BGSTR promotional work on-air now and watch the new seasons of the ‘Strange and Unusual’ slate when they premiere.
