Art Director
BigStar Motion Design is seeking a full-time Art Director to play a key role in the growing creative footprint of the company. The Art Director is involved in the creative and technical leadership of projects at BGSTR across all areas of the business. Our ADs need to have an entrepreneurial spirit, superior client handling skills, be accustomed to ideating concepts through the entire pitch cycle, and have a passion for producing the most stunning and technically advanced visual work there is -- in a very hands-on capacity.
Our AD needs to be a great collaborator who can partner with fellow Directors, Designers, Animators, and Producers, helping to ensure a strong design/animation perspective is consistently represented across all projects.
This is a freelance role and will require working onsite in our New York studio.
Responsibilities
- Taking a significant role in the entire project cycle, from initial client brief, ideation, design, and animation.
- Working closely with the client(s) to ensure that their vision is met, constantly improving on the client's ideas.
- Working with the artist team, developing tools, methodologies, and workflows ensuring best possible practice and delivery of the highest quality possible.
- Working with the producer on project management, providing feedback on production schedules, crewing, and working with the teams to deliver projects on time and budget.
- On-the-box work on style frames, concept development, pitches, and execution of projects.
- Providing creative advice and involvement in challenging projects.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in Design and Motion Graphics for film and commercials and broadcast clients.
- Being able to multitask and run multiple projects and teams. To ensure that each project is running smoothly and efficiently.
- Superior client management skills.
- An extensive portfolio of your own creative work, including directing experience, if applicable.
- Passion and a broad knowledge of the Design, Motion Graphics, and VFX industries with an eye for future developments and challenges.
- Demonstrated excellent leadership skills across all levels, strong communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of Design, Animation, CG, VFX, and shot production.
- Ability to remain calm and confident in a fast-paced environment whilst juggling multiple projects.
- Ability to work within and inspire a team and also under your own initiative.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels, both on a technical and creative basis.
- Strong time management & organization skills.
- Expert knowledge of the Adobe Suite and Cinema 4D.
