WNBA on USA Launch Campaign

USA Network

The partnership between USA and the WNBA is a big one: an 11-year media rights agreement with Versant running through 2036, with USA Network presenting at least 50 regular-season games annually, including the WNBA Playoffs and Finals. A partnership this exciting is worthy of a big introduction, and BGSTR was thrilled to design the promo package that would meet the moment.

Our goal for creating a promotion system included making a premium, custom marketing ecosystem that would position USA Network as the definitive home of the WNBA— one that fuses the visual languages of both brands and puts athletes at the forefront, celebrating their individuality, personality, and emotional intensity.

Title Cards

The BGSTR team explored four distinct creative directions, each pushing the partnership in a different way. Some leaned into bold typography and motion to capture the energy of the game, others stripping things back to let the players and teams speak for themselves through color and simplicity. Across all four, the throughline was the same: translate the intensity, personality, and individuality of the athletes into a visual language USA Network could build a season around.

The final deliverables covered the full scope of what USA Network needed to launch and sustain the season: button, endpages, footage treatment, full promo, greensheets, mortise, open, player card, team card, team vs. team, and title card.

The USA Network broadcast team brings real credibility to the booth, and our design had to match it. This is an exciting long-term partnership for the league and the network, and BGSTR designed the visual system to kick it off and then grow together.
